Dr. Adriaan van Heiningen has over 25 years experience in researching and teaching
the fundamental chemical engineering aspects of forest biomass conversion processes.
His current research efforts are focused on the production of polymers and biofuels
from Integrated Forest Products Refineries. Dr. van Heiningen is a Professor in
the Department of Chemical and Biological Engineering at the University of Maine
and a Finnish Distinguished Professor in the Department of Forests Products Technology
at the Helsinki University of Technology in Finland. He obtained his Ph.D. in Chemical
Engineering from McGill University in Montreal, Canada.
David Glassner, Ph.D.
Dr. Glassner has more than 27 years experience developing and commercializing renewable
products. Prior to American Process he built and led the teams achieving commercialization
of the first two commodity products made by modified yeast, low pH lactic acid and
isobutanol. In his executive roles David led or participated in raising more than
$250 million in capital at Gevo and more than $30 million in government research
funding at NatureWorks. He also held leadership roles as the Biofuels Technology
