Equipments - Flash Tank

Use the Flash to flash the inlet pulp, water, ethanol or mixture to vapor phase and liquid phase at a specific flash pressure. The inlet stream must contain water or ethanol. Steam, ethanol vapor and gasses are sent to the Vapor_Out stream. Water, Ethanol liquid, dissolved solids, and solids are sent to the Liquid_Out stream.

Method&Equations

The model calculates the inlet steam enthalpy as follows:

        Hi = Hv * (VF / TF) + Hl * (LF / TF)

where:

       Hi is the inlet stream enthalpy

       Hv is the vapor stream enthalpy

       VF is the total flow on the vapor stream

       LF is the total flow on the liquid stream

       TF is the total flow on the inlet stream

Total flow of the inlet stream is:

       TF = VF + LF
