About Projects

A Project is a collection of Models. It represents a way to organize your models. One can best describe a project as a file folder on the computer. File folders are collections of files that are related in some way. Projects are collections of models that are related in some way.

When a new project is created, apiMAX™ creates a folder on the computer and a file with the extension .mxp in the project's folder. The .mxp file contains the list of models existing in the project. Models added to the project are saved in the project file folder and they are included in the .mxp file's model list.

Projects and their models are shown in the Projects/Models Window.

Example 1

When apiMAX™ is installed several projects are initialized. The Sensors project is a collection of models that display process information. The Sensors project contains several composite models, such as a Balance_Sensor.mxc, an Energyl_Flow_Sensor.mxc, an Ethanol_Concentration_Sensor.mxc.

Example 2

MillWide project is a sample process model installed with apiMAX™. The project files are saved under apiMAX™ installation folder in Projects | MillWide.

The project includes the MillWide.mxp file, one case model MillWide.mxm and several composite models (.mxc), such as D_Reactor.mxc, ITC_Digester.mxc, Pressure_Washer.mxc. To view and run the model, you need to open the project. You can do this by double clicking the file with the extension .mxp.
