Introducing apiMAX™
apiMAX™ is a Chemical Process Simulation Software. This program enables the user to design Process Flow Diagrams (PFD), which can be quickly and easily transformed to a model, if stream and equipment parameters are given.
apiMAX™ can be used to design and test a new chemical plant with given constraints and functionality, so that the plant will operate as close to design specifications as possible, while minimizing additional expenses. apiMAX™ can also be used to simulate existing chemical plants and help to identify the benefits from possible process modifications. .
apiMAX™ can be used to simulate chemical processes in general, and it specializes in pulp and paper industry related processes. apiMAX™ was the first simulator on the market which models pulp and paper and ethanol together. Unlike point solutions that only address specific process areas, apiMAX™ addresses inefficiencies throughout the plant, resulting in millions of dollars in monetary savings and increased customer satisfaction.
apiMAX™ is used for Steady State modeling. That means it can be used for the representation of a chemical process during a specific period/instance of time via the use of various equations/algorithms/process knowledge. In steady-state modeling, time is not a variable.
American Process Inc. uses this software for strategic analysis studies and engineering/design work.
apiMAX™ can be used to evaluate an existing process in order to gather necessary information for achieving a specific goal (resolve process issues, increase process knowledge, etc).
Use cases of apiMAX™ in strategic analysis:
apiMAX™ is used in projects to generate process information necessary for new process construction (new process configurations, new equipment size, etc.).
Use cases of apiMAX™ in design work:
apiMAX™ can be also employed in Project optimization through evaluation of alternatives.
apiMAX™ offers an intuitive interface, by using accepted chemical engineering notions for model designing, and by making the model management as easy to use and reliable as possible. The overall effect of any slight change in the PFD, its equipment or a feed composition can easily and expediently be determined to allow the user to optimize the chemical process with less haste.
This program operates in windows. As such, many features commonly associated with windows operations make this program user-friendly.
Process flow sheets are easily constructed by dragging and dropping equipment into the flow sheet from standard equipment libraries delivered with apiMAX™.
apiMAX™ is a valuable tool to any chemical engineer for reasons other than process simulation. apiMAX™ includes a broad range of pulp and paper and energy equipment. The vast databanks contain the physical properties of chemicals, various thermodynamic and equilibrium packages for more accurate modeling.
apiMAX™ enables process engineers to increase the value of their simulation investment by providing easy and robust integration with Microsoft Excel.
apiMAX™ can be easily used for energy and material balance of simple or detailed process engineering projects. It is simple to learn and use by any chemical student which wants to create his first models. It is as simple and fast to use for detailed and complex project design and solving.
apiMAX™ can be an excellent training tool to engineers that are not yet familiar with the process. The simulation model gives them the possibility to try several different operation points of the process and see how the process responds, without actually exposing them to hazards that may occur if they implemented these changes in the actual process.
Competitive pricing includes all future upgrades and multiple site licenses for one yearly fee.
apiMAX™ software was developed over 10 years by the Weyerhaeuser Company for internal use. In 2003, Weyerhaeuser sold the software to American Process Inc.
